NAPPY THE LIFE SAVER
by WhichNappy.co.uk
Can a nappy save life of a baby? Nappies have traditionally been taking care of the by-products of life, but they may have a higher purpose in this world. At least so was the case for the 3-year old Sariyah Michel.
ABC News recently reported an accident in Florida where a toddler was thought to be saved by a buoyant nappy. Apparently the parents of the 3-year old Sariyah had a violent argument in the car, which lead to father hitting mother while the latter was at the wheel. Consequently, the vehicle veered off into the lake. The emergency services first found the woman crying for help, who told them that her daughter was still in the car.
Miraculously, the girl was floating on the surface with the nappy working as a buoy. According to the rescuers, the nappy was a Pamper. So, no matter what people might think of Pampers as a nappy brand, Sariyah and her mother are likely to be the lifelong fans of it.
The story obviously omits some details, and one might logically assume that the toddler was not in a child car seat (or at least was not fastened). In this case such negligence on her parents' part ultimately saved the girl's life or at least allowed her to emerge out of the car and float up. However, unless you are planning to punch your spouse who is driving and then crash into the lake, your child will always be safer in a child car seat.
By the way, why a 3-year old girl was still wearing a nappy, isn't it the age when most toddlers get potty trained and travel nappy-free?
